When do you need
consular certification in a foreign embassy?
Consular certification in a foreign embassy might be performed only after your documents have been translated and legalized. Usually it is done upon the express requirement of the foreign authorities in order to confirm the truthfulness of the translated documents. Consular certification in a foreign embassy is also required in case you make translation and legalization in Bulgaria of a copy of document, acquired abroad, for example, in case you want to legalize locally your Hungarian birth certificate, etc.
When is it necessary to
have a document legalized?
You have to legalize a document on every single occasion, when, in case of living, working or studying you have to certify various personal circumstances or data before the respective local authorities. Document legalization is necessary, as well, when you want to naturalize in Bulgaria a document of educational qualification acquired abroad, to certify a marriage contracted abroad or different personal circumstances and data acquired abroad, before the Bulgarian authorities.
Why is it
necessary the translation and legalization to be done by a licensed agency?
The translation and legalization are done by a licensed agency, because it works with sworn translators, approved by the Consular Relation Directorate under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and it has a valid contract for document legalization with the Consular Relation Directorate. Only a licensed agency can handle legally your documents.
What is the difference between an
official translation and a legalized translation?
An official translation is a translation made by a sworn translator on a letterhead of a licensed translation agency bearing the translator’s signature and the seal of the agency. A legalized translation is a translation that complies with the above-mentioned requirements and, in addition, is officially certified by the respective state institutions and the Consular Relation Directorate under the Ministry of Interior as the ultimate certifying instance.
Is it necessary to
pay in advance for a translation and legalization of documents?
Upon consultation with our Office Managers the legalization price will be completely paid and the translation price will be paid in advance. Payment in advance might not be necessary should you become a regular client of ours.
Why do
prices of translation services vary?
The prices of translation services depend on the agency that renders the translation and on its location. It is quite natural that the prices of an agency located in the Lyulin residential area are lower than the prices of an agency located at Graf Ignatiev Street because translation services cost increases in a direct ration from the periphery to the centre of Sofia. Prices of translation services might vary, as well, depending on the language of translation and the fixed term. For instance, translation into Polish is more expensive than translation into French and less expensive than translation into Albanian. Prices are not always determined by the quality and speed of service. In short, that’s the market.

What does
simultaneous and consecutive interpreting mean?
These are different types of interpreting, employed in case of escorting, business negotiations, conferences, etc. Simultaneous translation is employed at all kinds of multi-language conferences, symposia and congresses and means that the interpreting is performed simultaneously with the speaking. With some difficult languages e.g. Hungarian, where the syntactic structure of sentence is reverse in comparison to the one of the Slavonic languages, simultaneous interpreting is rarely employed.
